Introducing your 2014 AUG Team Captains

Team Captains Lucinda Dawson and Andrew Sanders are proud to be leading TeamMONASH in 2014.

After a successful 2013 AUG campaign, they are looking for TeamMONASH to take the next step and secure the AUG Overall Championship.
They are looking to motivate our teams in the areas of preparation, leadership and teamwork to guide TeamMONASH to victory at this year’s AUG.

Both are accomplished athletes in their respective sports and encourage academic excellence to all our Uni Games participants.

Name: Lucinda (Lucy) Dawson
Sport: BASKETBALL
Studying: Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Law

The 2014 Australian University Games will be Lucy’s fourth, winning a medal at all three previous AUG – two of them being gold and the other one being silver. Lucy is hoping to add a third consecutive gold to the tally.  Lucy has also received ‘Green and Gold’ recognition in all three of her AUG campaigns.

Lucy has been playing basketball since she was five years old and fell in love with the sport that allowed girls to wear baggy shorts.

During her time studying at Monash, Lucy represented Monash at the first annual ‘Collaborative Moot’ in Warwick in England in February 2014, where she was awarded best speaker for the competition and has reached the Semi Finals of the Monash General Moot for 3 consecutive years 2012-2014.  
Lucy, together with Andrew, is looking forward to leading TeamMONASH to victory in 2014.

Name: Andrew Sanders
Sport: RUGBY 7s
Studying: Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology
The 2014 Australian University Games will be Andrew’s fourth year as a player, manager and first year as the team captain.

Andrew’s proudest AUG achievement was winning a silver medal at AUG in 2010 which was the first time a Melbourne university has won a medal in Rugby 7s.  He is hoping to add another medal to his tally in 2014.
Andrew has been playing rugby since he was 16, however only played 7s for the first time in 2010 when he first joined the AUG team.
Apart from representing Monash at AUG, Andrew is heavily involved in the Science Society and has previously been involved with the MSA.
Andrew, together with Lucy is excited and honored to be leading TeamMONASH in 2014.
