Harris HMC team of Brad Blunt, Andrew Headbury, Marcus Spencer and Alex Merzvinskis didn’t let new conditions and challenges put them off their game, backing up their success in 2013 by again winning this year’s competition.

Now in its 17th year, this popular Ambrose format event attracted 51 golfing ‘enthusiasts’ from throughout the Monash University community.

TeamMONASH Programs Coordinator Simon Dart said the golf day was an outstanding success, from the networking opportunities for the participants to the raising of funds for Monash University Talented Student Support Programs and affiliated sporting clubs.

“The annual Chancellors Cup Golf Day is a great opportunity for Monash alumni and corporate supporters to mix in a relaxing environment while helping to raise funds for our programs and sporting clubs.

“The event raised well over $4,500 for participating programs and sporting clubs, combined with a stunning hole-in-one by Paul McNamee on the North Course 3rd hole; it was a very enjoyable day.” Mr Dart said

Competitors also enjoyed side novelty hole competitions – with Tony West winning both longest drives on the 9th and 11th holes, Alex Merzvinskis nearest to pin on the 10th hole, Dwayne Kick nearest to pin on the 15th hole, Samuel Catherine straightest drive on the 17th hole.

However, all were upstaged and stunned by Paul McNamee’s hole-in-one on nearest to pin on the 3rd hole. Congratulations Paul, well played!

Martin Doulton, Director of TeamMONASH applauded everyone involved in ensuring  another successful golf day.

“To our sponsors, supporters and friends thank you for your efforts in supporting our sporting clubs who make a very important contribution to the overall University experience at Monash.” Mr Doulton said.
