Chancellor's Cup Golf Day

Save the date!

TeamMONASH is once again organising the Chancellor's Cup Golf Day, to be held at the prestigious Sandhurst Golf Club on Friday 13 November 2015.

The format for the day will be 4 ball ambrose, with participants from all parts of the Monash University community.

The goal of the day is to raise funds for the Talented Student Support Program (TSSP) and Monash University affiliated sporting clubs. These programs and clubs perform a valuable role promoting social inclusion and providing broad support networks for our students, as well as the opportunity to allow them to compete for their University.

For more info about the day and to register for the event, please refer to the Chancellor's Cup Golf Day webpage:

Ultimate Frisbee Success

Amanda Fung has just returned from competing at the highest levels in Ultimate Frisbee last month. Partially funded by a TeamMONASH International Sport Travel Grant, her trip included the US Open tournament in Ohio and the World Under 23 Championships in London.

Amanda’s team, Ellipsis, won the US Open Championship. As the only Australian team competing, Ellipsis’ skill was cemented by not only winning the tournament but by beating the current Ultimate Frisbee World Champions, Drag N’ Thrust. The profile of Ultimate Frisbee was raised as the team’s semi-final and final were both televised on ESPN3 in the USA.

Continuing on from her team’s success at the US Open, Amanda travelled on to London where she competed for Australia at the World Under 23 Championships. Amanda was the captain of the Australian team. The team came fourth, losing 12-13 to Canada in the nail biting Bronze Medal game. She was exceptionally happy to help Australia break into the top four in the world, breaking up what had long been thought of as the world’s four powerhouses – USA, Canada, Japan and Columbia.

Amanda is currently completing a double degree in Commerce and Law.

Monash Boardriders in 2015!

What a year 2015 has been for Monash Boardriders so far!

The Monash Boardriders Club are lovers of skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding, and cater to board riders of all skill levels. Their mantra is simple, if you love anything to do with riding a board, then this club is for you. The Monash Boardriders are in the middle of their biggest event calendar year yet, and welcome new members no matter what your boarding capabilities consist of.

There are a number of social and competitive activities members can take part in. For example there are the Surfing Uni Games, where the Monash Boardriders previously finished 2nd overall. This year the Monash Boardriders also traveled to Queenstown and Wanaka in New Zealand for a ten day snow trip. Surf camps at Lorne, Wye River and Sandy Point were also on the Boardriders' calendar this year.

Those looking to enhance their skills are welcome to attend 'Learn to Surf', 'Learn to Snowboard' and 'Learn to Skate' days, with lessons given by members of the Monash Boardriders. The first ever Surf Ball was also held earlier this year.

A lot has been happening for the Monash Boardriders this year, however Semester 2 brings numerous more events:
  • Three surf camps.
  • Two weekend snow trips.
  • Regular skateboarding missions.
  • Learn to skate days.
  • Two learn to surf days.
